Pradhan feted with top awardAll Nepal Football Association (Anfa) honoured its General Secretary Dhirendra Pradhan with Sharad Chandra Shah Memorial Award 2071 here on Wednesday.
Former international footballer Pradhan, who has been serving as Anfa General Secretary since 2009, was handed over the award that carries a purse of Rs 5,00,000. He was honoured for his contribution to football. Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa handed over the award to Pradhan.
Pradhan said the award motivated him to work even harder for the development of football in the country. “I am extremely happy to receive the award which shows that my work has been recognised,” said Pradhan, who made is club debut for Mahendra Police Club in 1975 and went on to play for Mahabir Club, Boys Union Club, Rani Pokhari Corner Team, Friends Club, Jhapa XI among others.
Pradhan was a member of the Nepali team that participated in the 23rd Asian Youth Football Championship hosted by Nepal in 1982. Pradhan also took part in the 9th Asian games held in India in 1982 and was part of the Nepali team that clinched the South Asian Federation Games on home soil in 1984. He also represented Nepal in the second, third and fourth South Asian Federation Games.
