Apart from calling off the two-day cricket on Thursday, the event management group ZSM also announced a few changes to the most-awaited cricketing event. “The two-day cricket, which was scheduled to take place in Dhangadi from April 10, has been called off after consultation with the captains of six franchises because of extreme heat there. The city will now host 50-over cricket,” said a ZSM statement.

Originally scheduled for April 10 start with the two-day cricket, the NPL was postponed for May 14 due to national team’s participation in the recently concluded ACC Premier League. ZSM was forced to call off the two-day cricket after national team cricketers expressed concerns over playing a longer version of cricket in hot and humid Dhangadi condition.

Earlier, Rajbiraj and Biratnagar were named the 50-over tournament hosts.

Kathmandu will host the Twenty20 tournament on May 14-24 as previously announced. All the T20 matches will be held at the TU ground. ZSM said the two-day cricket will be included next year.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is organising the NPL managed by ZSM. NPL will be participated in by six franchises of corporate houses captained by national team members.

The teams include Kantipur Gurkhas, Vishal Group Warriors, Jagdamba Giants, Sagarmatha Legends, Tej and Colors X Factors.
