All allround show from Kabita Kunwar ensured a 51-run win for Sudurpaschim Province against Province 5 in the PM Cup Women’s National Twenty20 cricket tournament on Sunday.
In a low key affair, Kunwar scored almost half the team’s total as Sudurpaschim were bowled out for 100 runs in 16.1 overs. In reply Province 5 were dismissed for 49 runs in 16 overs thanks to the discipline bowling from Sudurpaschim Province.
Kunwar was the standout performer in Sudurpaschim’s otherwise hapless batting display. As wickets continued to tumble at the other end, Kunwar went about her business clobbering eight boundaries in her fiery 25-ball knock they yielded her 43 runs.
Kabita Joshi was the only other Sudurpaschim batswoman to score runs in double figure. Former national team captain Nary Thapa and Alisha KC took three wickets each while, Sima Thapa, Kritika Marasini and Saraswati Pun Magar claimed a wicket each for Province 5.
Player-of-the-match Kunwar returned to open the bowling for Sudurpaschim and helped derailed the Province 5 run chase. Kunwar (2-6) and Suman Bista (2-10) took out the top four Province 5 batswomen before Laxmi Saud (2-11) and Janaki Bhatta condemned their opponents to 49 all out. Bhatta finished off the match taking three wickets in four balls of the 16th over.
