According to the MFD bulletin, weather across the country is likely to change with moderate rainfall predicted for most places of the eastern and central regions since Saturday night. Heavy rains are in forecast at a few places in the regions, according to the bulletin.
Most places would receive moderate rainfall until Sunday night. According to the department, a few places in the plains will be hit by storm on Sunday while places elsewhere in the Tarai will witness heavy rainfall.
The daily bulletin of the Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology noted a chance of flash floods in small rivulets flowing in the Chure and other hilly areas of the East and the Centre on Sunday.
The division has cautioned people living near the banks of major river systems to stay safe from possible floods. Water levels in the Kankai, Koshi, Kamala, Paschim Rapti and Babai rivers are predicted to rise on Sunday.
The weather bulletin rules out water flow above the danger level on the major rivers of Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries till Monday. A change in weather on Monday is forecast with light to moderate rainfall in most parts of the country.
