33 families to get govt compensation

The families of 33 victims of human rights violations are in line for compensation from the government, as per the recommendation of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Based on the recommendation of the NHRC, the government has decided to provide Rs 7.9 million as compensation to the families of the victims of murder, torture, disappearance, injury and disability and illegal detention, among others.
The NHRC had made recommendation for the incidents that took between 2059 Asar and 2062 Fagun.
The compensation would be provided through the concerned chief district officers.
The families of murder victims will get Rs 300,000 each. They are the families of Arjun Lamichhane of Laharepauwa-2, Lilmaya Tamang and Bir Bahadur Tamang of Samarthali-7, Rasuwa; Suk Bahadur Thing and Bhim Bahadur Bomjan of Malta-2, Lalitpur; Chatur Narayan Yogi of Sikharbesi-6 from Nuwakot, and Khushiram Chaudhary of Daram-2, Kailali.
Other victims of human rights violations are from Kailali, Kathmandu, Jumla, Kanchanpur, Bajhang, and Nuwakot districts.
Sudip Pathak, member of the commission, said that the NHRC welcomed the government decision to compensation the concerned families.
