Acclaimed documentary film Bhagyale Bachekaharu (Nepal Earthquake: Heroes, Survivors, and Miracles), which narrates the stories of miraculous survivals of the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, was screened at the British Parliament on Tuesday, the first time that a Nepali film has been screened at the British Parliament. The event was organised to mark the second anniversary of the disaster. 

Speaking after the screening, MP of the British Parliament Stephen Gethins said, “We are ready to help out the quake-affected people of Nepal in any way possible and would also like to encourage everyone present to help out with whatever they can.” Director of the film Ganesh Pandey, speaking after the screening, said, “I feel happy to be standing here, presenting the stories of Nepali people. The fact that this is the first time ever a Nepali film is being screened in the British parliament is humbling.”

Of late, Bhagyale Bachekaharu has made quite a splash on the international film circuit. The film has so far bagged 15 awards and has been screened in more than 32 countries around the world. The film is slated for screening in various cities in the UK later this month.
