Int’l community urged to keep away from internal politics

The federation has also asked the civil society to be sensitive on the increased interference of the international community and to caution them on the issues.
Issuing a press statement on Tuesday to publicise the 13-point declaration of its 22nd General Assembly held in Chitwan last week, the federation said, “The prolonged political deadlock has given a room to various forces.”
It has also asked the parties to set aside their differences and come together to safeguard the national sovereignty and to become sensitive in maintaining geo-political balance with the friendly nations.
“The implementation of new constitution is the need of an hour,” read the statement, calling on all the political forces to find a common ground for the effective implementation of the charter.
In the declaration, the federation has also raised various issues ranging from stalled development process and sluggish progress in providing justice to the victims of the decade-long conflict.
Expressing concern over the Social Welfare Council’s unilateral decision to increase fines in the name of monitoring and evaluation of NGOs, it has demanded an amendment to the existing Social Welfare Act and to nominate its officials through voting every five years.
