Faction leaders said the document presented at the party’s Central Working Committee on Tuesday has failed to provide the party new directions.
After endorsement
by the CWC, the paper will be presented to the party’s 13th General Convention that will take place on March 3-6.
The Deuba faction organised an interaction on Tuesday to prepare its strategy for the convention. Leaders close to Deuba said the policies and programmes drafted by Acting party President Ram Chandra Poudel need drastic changes.
Team Deuba is preparing to submit its recommendations to the party regarding the document. CWC member Bal Krishna Khand warned of presenting a separate document if their suggestions are not incorporated. The committee will deliberate the document from Thursday.
The Deuba faction is also set to oppose a proposal to amend the party statute. The establishment faction plans to increase the number of office bearers through an amendment.
NC leader Prakash Sharan Mahat criticised the effort saying that there was no need to create posts to accommodate individuals. The party establishment is preparing to increase the number of vice-presidents and general secretaries to manage the aspirations of senior leaders in its fold. Deuba, however, presses for responsibilities that will reshape the party organisation in line with the country’s federal structure.
