On Friday, 15 petroleum tankers entered Nepal. Of them, 12 carried diesel and three petrol. Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has started importing petroleum from Indian Oil Corporation’s Barauni depot thorough this customs point. On the day, 20 trucks carrying food items also crossed the border.
The office collected Rs1 million in customs revenue on Friday. On Saturday, 10
petroleum tankers and 20 trucks carrying food items were awaiting clearance, according to Customs Officer Pramod Das. Transportation services have also resumed on the Janakpur-Jaleshwor-Bhitthamod route. Earlier, people were forced to travel on motorcycles by paying Rs200 per 10km.
Meanwhile, disappointed by continued blockade on the Birgunj route, Auto Craft, authorised dealer of a tractor brand, has started importing the farm machinery through Jaleshwor Customs. The company’s Proprietor Vijay Mahato said he was forced to reroute his imports as it was uncertain when the Birgunj customs point would resume.
