KL Dugar Group officials sent to judicial custody

Also, the court issued a summons to nine other defendants including the group’s Chairman KL Dugar to present themselves before it within 30 days.
According to the court, a bench of Judge Dipendra Adhikari issued the order after conducting hearing in the case of fraud and black-marketeering against top officials of the group.
Along with KL Dugar, the court also summoned Managing Director Kumud Dugar, Naresh Dugar and Bikash Dugar, among other top officials of the group.
Following complaints that the company had been hoarding products and artificially hiking the prices, a team from the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku had impounded four truck edible oil from Jadibuti, Kathmandu.
A raid at the group’s warehouse there and further investigations revealed that the firm had been selling edible oil at prices three times the normal.
The government attorney has sought 10-year jail and compensation worth Rs140 million for the misappropriation.
