Unnamed (VR) also won the title in the Games and Entertainment category and took home another Rs250,000.
Ncell Chief Executive Officer Erim Taylanlar handed over the grand prize amid a function on Tuesday. Addressing the handover ceremony, Taylanlar said that the winners could use the cash prize as seed money for a start-up. “The world is moving towards rapid development of ICT, and Ncell is proud to have been able to contribute towards it,” he said.
Likewise, Skin Consult became the winner in the Health category while Pinpeaks and Nidarr won under the Tourism and Utilities categories. All of them received Rs250,000 each.
According to Ncell, the grand prize winner Unnamed (VR) is a 3D game in which the user finds himself inside an old abandoned hospital haunted by zombies. This team has also got an opportunity to participate in an international event in 2016.
Sheetal Kumar Maharjan, team leader of Unnamed (VR), said it was a dream come true and a responsibility to uplift the local gaming app sector. “We would have just been an unknown developer without Ncell App Camp,” Maharjan was quoted as saying by Ncell.
A total of 24 teams, six from each of the four categories, were selected as the finalists from among the 150 teams picked for the Ncell App Camp 2015. This year, 728 ideas were registered. The 24 teams were selected on the basis of pre-announced criteria like the importance of the problem the app aims to solve, the app’s business potential and its global scalability, and how the teams could articulate and present their ideas.
