The joint struggle committee, leading the protest, has said that the ongoing banda will continue until the government withdraws the bill from Parliament.
On Monday, the committee organised a mass assembly in Tamghas which was attended by the central leaders of various political parties.
CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali, Nepali Congress central member Chandra Bhandari, CPN (Maoist Centre) politburo member Chandra Bahadur Khadka, among other leaders, addressed the assembly.
They said that the protests should continue to exert pressure on the government to take back the constitution amendment bill from Parliament.
Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha, the NC district president and coordinator of the joint struggle committee, urged the people in the district to continue the protests until further notice. In Pyuthan, the protesters picketed the District Administration Office for two hours to protest the bill. The protest saw participation of locals, civil society and business community, besides the leaders and cadres of various political parties.
