A 26-year-old woman died and a man went missing in a landslide at Dahikhola on the Surkhet-Jumla stretch of the Karnali Highway on Friday evening. The place lies on the border of Kalikot and Dailekh districts.

Police identified the victim as Gita Thapa Magar of Pipalkot-4, Dailekh. She owned a roadside eatery there.

Range Bishwokarma, 35, of Singasain-9, Dailekh has been missing in the landslip caused by rain. Search for the missing is on, said police. Eleven others were injured, two critically, in their effort to flee the site. They are receiving treatment at the district hospital. Nine houses have been damaged. Scores of passengers and vehicles were stranded as the highway was blocked by a landmass.

In Gulmi, Til Bahadur Nepali, 48, of Hastichaur-9 was swept away by the rain-swollen Chhaldi stream on Friday. The victim is said to have been trying to cross the stream.
