Three people, including a police constable, have been arrested from Brigunj after they were found taking bribe from gold smugglers.

Police constable Arbind Singh, Dipak Singh and Bhagawan Singh were arrested with Rs 472,000 cash along with cheque books and bank vouchers. The

trio was made public at the District Police Office on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police Rajubabu Shrestha said the three men were running a racket of accosting gold smugglers and demanding bribe to release them.

A police source claimed that Singh and his accomplices had recently seized 5 kg gold near National Medical College and freed the smugglers after taking a hefty amount.
