A massive fire broke out at Rajapur VDC-1 in Dang district on Thursday, destroying at least 49 huts and animal shelters.
The fire started from a hut of Mayaram Yadav at around noon and soon spread to
adjacent huts. The cause of fire, however, was not immediately clear. Twenty-five cattle died in the fire, but there were no human casualties. Police said properties worth around Rs 6 million were destroyed and left more than 100 people homeless. They could not even salvage their belongings and are now forced to live out in the open, according to police. The fire was controlled by security personnel and
villagers in the evening.
One dead, seven houses destroyed in Rolpa
A visually impaired person died in a fire that in Jedbang village of Rolpa district on Wednesday. Police said 60-year-old Narbir Kunwar died in the fire that started from his house. The fire also destroyed six other houses.
Chief District Officer
Mitralal Sharma said windy condition had fuelled the fire, making it difficult to contain. “A huge property destruction was caused as a result,” Sharma said.
