Aasish Adhikari, a student at Libang-based Little Buddha English School in the district, telephoned Dr Govinda KC and sent a text message expressing his solidarity with the doctor’s hunger strike on Thursday.

He said he got KC’s contact number from his brother and called him using his principal’s mobile phone.

“I was saddened by the deteriorating health condition of the doctor who came to our landslide-hit village in June and provided treatment to the injured,” he said, adding that he himself lost his father and other family members in the disaster.

He said 15 of his friends also expressed their solidarity to Dr KC’s strike. Likewise, landslide-displaced Laxmimaya Bishwokarma of Libang also said she also expressed solidarity with the doctor who treated her injuring in the waist and backbone. She is now living in district headquarters Phungling.

She said she was humbled by the doctor who visited the landslide-hit area and provided treatment as well as counselling to the injured villagers.

Former lawmaker Om Ojha said the government should immediately address Dr KC’s demands. Jharendra Thapa, Red Cross chairman in Khokling, said people should support and praise the doctor who always engages himself in social service.
