Kathmandu
Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) has said it will start selling goats and chyangras (Himalayan goats) for the Dashain festival from Sunday.
The NFC has brought 750 chyangras from Mustang and 1,000 goats from Lahan, Hetauda and Tulsipur. They will be sold from NFC’s Thapathali office.
NFC officials said prices will be fixed on Sunday morning. More of these caprine animals will be brought to Kathmandu in the next three days, said the officials. NFC sells live goats and chyangras every year during the Dashain festival from its Thapathali office.
“Our main concern is promoting local farmers and controlling the market price,” said Karki. Prices in the market become unstable during the Dashain festival when demand of meat is high.
