A fire broke out at the Nepal Electricity Authority substation in Syuchatar on Monday afternoon, disrupting power supply for a couple hours at places in Kathmandu Valley.
Security personnel and firefighters took more than an hour to control the blaze. Four fire engines had used chemical foam to put out the flames. “Everything is under control,” said Sher Singh Bhat, deputy managing director at the NEA. “Electricity supply within the Valley has already been restored.”
One transformer that was destroyed would be replaced soon, NEA officials said. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.
