The Judicial Council (JC) resent the names of justice nominees to Parliament following Speaker Onsari Gharti’s “consent” to move the hearing process forward during her meeting with Law Minister Agni Kharel.
Minister Kharel, who is also a member of the JC, the body responsible for appointing justices, had held consultations with Speaker Gharti after Parliament sent the names back to the JC on the grounds that the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee was yet to be formed and that the five-member JC was incomplete, as it was yet to get two members. “The recommendation has been sent to Parliament,” said Devendra Raj Dhakal, JC spokesperson.
