Parties provide Rs 2.1m to quake-hit families

Nine political parties in Chitwan have provided Rs 2.1 million to 1,426 quake-hit families in Chandibhanjyang and Darechok VDCs.
The families were displaced following the devastating earthquake in April.
Nepali Congress (NC), UCPN (Maoist), Rastryia Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), Rastryia Prajatantra Party, CPN-UML, CPN-ML, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN-Maoist and Janamorcha Nepal had raised the amount from their supporters, civil society and businesspersons in the district.
NC District Secretary Jit Narayan Shrestha said they provided Rs 1, 500 to each family whose house was destroyed due to the quake. Likewise, RPP-N District Chairman Badri Timilsina said they will also provide some relief amount to the quake-hit families for the upcoming festival season.
NC District President Tek Prasad Gurung said the parties collaborated to help the quake victims. “All parties should work together in
order to give a positive message,” he said. Similarly, CPN-UML Chairman JN Thapaliya hailed the unity among the parties to help the quake-hit people was an exemplary work.
Darechok VDC Secretary Nilkantha Lamichhane said the help generated the quake-hit families were happy to receive help from the parties.
