Exhibitors are encouraged to donate a percentage of the sales made on that day to Srijanalaya’s Art works! Sangai Khelaun camp for children. This Art Market will also be organising a live auction of selected artworks donated by the artists, proceeds of which will also go to the intended cause.

Interested participants are requested to describe the art that they would like to offer including the percentage of the sales that she or he would like to donate to both the email addresses.

 Art Works! Sangai Khelaun is an ongoing initiative for children by artists, educators, and psychosocial counsellors. Artists from different fields—circus performers, dancers, musicians, theatre troupes, visual artists, and writers—conduct workshops where children engage in creative activities. The goal is to create safe physical, psychological, and social spaces to foster children’s imagination and self-esteem.

A statement released by the organisers reads: “We believe that nurturing children’s imagination is an important part of rebuilding. At a time when children are experiencing varying degrees of fear and anxiety, art activities can help them focus on the present and find hope for the future.”

The team travels to informal and formal learning spaces—schools, child-friendly spaces, temporary learning centres, informal community learning spaces—in areas where children have had to cope with the loss of loved ones, their homes and/or their sense of security.

The project organises children’s workshops that last between 1–5 days. The art workshops prioritise local material for the arts and promote shared learning among artists, children, and the broader community. Respect and solidarity among children of different backgrounds are promoted. A team of educators and psychosocial counsellors also provide support for teachers and guardians. The project also trains teachers and educators themselves to encourage and nurture creative thinking among children.
