A meeting of the committee on Tuesday decided to summon CIAA chief to hold discussions with him on issues including the commission’s directives to halt works of various projects, PAC Chairman Janardan Sharma informed.  

Speaking at a meeting of the parliamentary Finance Committee on Sunday, lawmakers had come down heavily upon the anti-graft body for overstepping its jurisdiction by ordering the scrapping of licencs of certain hydropower projects.

Likewise, along with finance committee, agriculture and water resources committees of the parliament have decided to hold talks with CIAA Chief Karki .  

Lawmakers have questioned the jurisdiction of the CIAA after the latter issued a series of orders cancelling the survey and generation licences of hydropower projects failing to complete their tasks within the deadline.

In the latest order, the anti-graft body had directed the government to terminate the permit of the 37.6 MW Kabeli-A Hydropower Project. The CIAA has already ordered the cancellation of the licences of over one dozen hydropower projects.
