Closed session begins at UML GC
Closed session discussion has begun at the ninth General Convention of ruling party CPN-UML in the Capital on Friday. The session started after nearly three hours of dealy.Ekantipur Report
Earlier, the session was scheduled to kick off at 1 pm today.
The party, however, could not reach an agreement on the nomination of 5 percent of total convention representatives. The closed session has begun without the finalisation of nomination candidates.
Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal is due to present his political document at the closed session while party General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel will table organisational document. Similarly, Secretary Yubaraj Gyawali will table the statue amendment proposal prepared by the party secretariat.
The 9th GC of UML had kicked off at Bhrikutimandap in the Capital on Thursday. The opening ceremony was, however, marred by the unrest outside the venue as some of the part cadres resorted to vandalism after being prevented to enter inside the convention venue.
Chairman Khanal dissolves CC
Meanwhile, Chairman Khanal has announced the dissolution of UML CC on the first day of the UML closed session at the ongoing General Convention.
The UML CC had been constituted in the last GC which took place in Butwal in 2008.
After the last conclave, UML had adopted multi-post system with Jhala Nath Khanal as party chairman. Before the announcement of the dissolution of the CC, an ad-hoc committee was formed which will later elect the new party leadership.
Leaders Bidhya Bhandari, Ishwor Pokhrel, Yubaraj Gyawali, Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Mukunda Neupane, Rajendra Pandey, Nagendra Chaudhary, among others, are the members of the committee.
