Adhikari murder case: 26 lawyers defend accused
The Chitwan District Court on Wednesday recorded statements from Chabi Lal Poudel and Bhisma Raj Poudel in connection with their alleged involvement in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari.Ekantipur Report
The court had started recording statements from the accused since yesterday. After the completion of taking statements from the two, the lawyers from both the sides have started argument on the case. District attorney Ek Narayan Lamsal began argument from the plaintiff's side while 26 lawyers argued on behalf of the defendants.
Lawyers from Kathmandu, Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Makwanpur have arrived in Chitwan in connection with the court proceedings regarding the Adhikari murder case. Bishwa Prakash Bhandari, Raman Kumar Shrestha, Mukti Pradhan, Ramesh Kumar Mainali, Prem Singh Dhami, among other lawyers, argued on behalf of the defendants.
According to court official Bidhya Raj Poudel, hearing on the case will continue on Thursday. Court verdict on the case might be delayed as there are many lawyers arguing on the case, said sources.
A charge-sheet seeking life imprisonment with confiscation of entire property was filed by the district government attorney, on Sunday, against the accused involved in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel- 7, Gorkha at the Chitwan District Court.
Chabi Lal Poudel, Bhishma Raj Poudel, Ram Prasad Adhikari, Parshuram Poudel, Kali Prasad Adhikari, Him Lal Adhikari, Sita Adhikari, Ram Prasad Adhikari, Megh Nath Adhikari, Januka Poudel, Subhadra Tiwari, Bishnu Tiwari and Rudra Acharya are the ones who have been charge-sheeted by the district attorney.
Eleven of the 13 accused are on the run. Earlier, the police had arrested Ram Prasad Adhikari and Parshuram Poudel on the same case but later they were released due to lack of evidence.
