Kritika Giri of Sisneri, Jhapa bagged the 7th Miss Purbanchal crown over the weekend.
With the title, Giri also won a Eurasia Bangkok tour, and a Yamaha fascino Scooter. Giri was also awarded with the Miss Personality title at the gala event.
During the grand finale, which was held at Dharan Sabhagriha on Saturday evening, Arjun Koirala, who chaired the show as a judge, had asked Giri what advice she would give Nepal’s president if she had the opportunity to meet her.
“I would advise her to promptly provide the pending reimbursements and aid to the earthquake victims,” said the 19-year-old Giri to a thunderous round of applause. Giri, who has recently finished her +2, mentioned that she now aspires to try her hand at Miss Nepal.
Giri triumphed over 19 competitors to win the title. Ex-Miss Purbanchal Priyanka Shrestha passed over the crown to Giri at the finale. Dharan’s Mamata Karki bagged first runner up and also, Dharan’s Iksha Maden was awarded the second runner-up title along with the Miss Charming award. Karki, the first runner up, won a cash purse of Rs 51,000 while Maden, the second runner up, won Rs 31,000.
Likewise, Dharan’s Sujana Rana Magar won Miss Public Choice, Dharan’s Shristi Acharya won Miss Talent, Lahan’s Apekshya Dhungana won Miss Friendship, Pachthar’s Mira Dumi Rai won Miss Healthy and Dharan’s Asmita Khadgi won Miss Photogenic. All title winners bagged Rs 10,000.
Former Miss Nepal Subin Limbu and present Miss Nepal Asmi Shrestha were also honoured at the event, while singer Prashna Shakya and 12-year-old singer Aadarsha Agrawal were the featured acts. Saurav Shrestha, event manager, said that 50 percent of the money acquired from ticket sales would be donated to the Purbanchal Aasara Sudhar Kendra, an organisation that aims to rehabilitate drug users.
